Warlock Talent Guide

The Warlock is a complex class with many options, but it can also be one of more fun classes to play in World of Warcraft, with three talent trees to choose from. What you choose to specialize in has a big influence on how you play your character, and this Warlock Talent Guide will help you understand the main things you should consider when building your Warlock.

Affliction Tree

First, let's consider the Affliction tree. Afflication talents, in general, are designed to boost the effectiveness of your DoT spells such as Corruption. The advantage of specializing in affliction is that the DoT attacks generally do not cause too much threat, so you can stand back relatively safely as your pet distracts the mob. It's a fairly low stress way to play the warlock although it does take a little patience since the damage done by DoTs take some time to build up. Demonology is a good secondary tree for affliction warlocks since it goes compliments affliction nicely.

The most important affliction talents are listed below.

--Improved Curse of Agony
--Soul Siphon
--Improved Corruption
--Empowered Corruption
--Shadow Embrace
--Eradication
--Contagion
--Unstable Affliction
--Pandemic
--Everlasting Affliction
--Malediction
--Shadow Mastery

Demonology Tree

The demonology specialization shiftsthe focus from the warlock to the minion. If the idea of having your minion do the heavy work sounds good, then this tree will appeal to you. One huge benefit of specializing in demonology is that it will give a boost to your survivability. As such, it is a popular build for people who like to solo, or want to level their character with minimal interruptions (such as death) and downtime. When choosing a secondary tree, a popular choice is affliction. Indeed, a tried and true formula for warlocks is to stack up DoTs while the pet takes the damage.

Listed below are some essential demonology talents.

--Improved Health Stone
--Demonic Embrace
--Improved Voidwalker
--Fel Intellect
--Fel Domination
--Fel Stamina
--Demonic Aegis
--Master Summoner
--Unholy Power
--Demonic Sacrifice
--Master Demonologist
--Demonic Knowledge
--Demonic Tactics
--Summon Felguard
--The Destruction Tree

This is probably the hardest build to play since the high level of destruction your spells cause is likely to create significant aggro. It's not such a bad choice if you like to play in groups, but if solo play is your thing, a destruction warlock will be difficult to pull off.

Listed below are some of the essential destruction talents.

--Improved Shadowbolt
--Bane
--Shadowburn
--Ruin
--Destructive Reach
--Devastation
--Improved Searing Pain
--Improved Immolate
--Emberstorm
--Backlash
--Conflagrate
--Shodow and Flame
--Shadowfury
