    Texas Olive Tree

    • The Texas olive tree (Cordia boissieri) is capable of living for more than 100 years and matures to a height of 15 feet and a width of 10 feet. This tree produces very showy, 12-inch wide, white flowers with yellow throats. The flowers bloom from late winter through summer and are a favorite among butterflies and hummingbirds. After their initial blooming period, the flowers continue to bloom sporadically throughout the year.

    Sparkleberry Tree

    • The sparkleberry (Vaccinium arboreum) is a deciduous tree capable of reaching a height of 6 to 20 feet. In addition to offering simple, alternate leaves, this tree also produces small, white flowers that dangle downward from the branches and emit a pleasant fragrance. The plethora of hanging flowers are very attractive to butterflies and a variety of birds.

    Chinese Wingnut

    • The Chinese wingnut tree (Pterocarya stenoptera) lives in U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) hardiness zones 6 through 8 and is considered deciduous. This tree matures to a height of 50 to 70 feet and a width of 40 to 70 feet; it features simple, alternate leaves. The Chinese wingnut yields long necklaces of emerald green nutlets that measure from 12 to 20 inches long. These strands of winged nutlets hang down from the tree and turn brown in the fall.

    White Glory Weeping Nectarine

    • The white glory weeping nectarine (Prunus persica var. nucipersica) is a deciduous tree that grows in USDA hardiness zones 5 through 9. The arching, weeping branches of this tree eventually reach the ground and yield an abundance of white flowers in early spring.

    Black Locust

    • The black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia) is a deciduous tree that thrives in USDA hardiness zones 4 through 8. When this tree reaches maturity, it can be 30 to 50 feet in height. It features pinnately compound alternate leaves that are 6 to 14 inches long. In the spring, this tree produces fragrant white flowers that look much like wisteria flowers. These flowers form in pendulous clusters that hang from the tree.

    Golden Chain Tree

    • The golden chain tree (Laburnum anagyroides) is a deciduous tree that lives in USDA hardiness zones 5 through 7 and thrives in full sun or partial shade. When this tree reaches maturity, it can be 12 to 30 feet tall and 9 to 12 feet wide. It features sparse branches and alternate trifoliate leaves that are green. This tree also yields yellow, pendulous flowers. Each raceme measures 6 to 10 inches.
