Van Gogh
From October 2010 through to mid-January 2011, the Van Gogh Museum is holding its first retrospective on Naturalism entitled: 'Naturalist painting, photography and cinema, 1875 -1918'. The daily lives of ordinary people have been represented in the fifty or more life-sized works on display. As an addition, a collection of illustrations by Van Gogh when he was studying works by naturalist artists will also be available.
Rembrandt
From 7th of September to the 29th of November, Rembrandt's famous portrait of Jan Six will be on rare display at the Rijksmuseum. This painting can normally be found in the Six family's private quarters, but will be available to the public at a 'Rembrandt & Jan Six: An Amsterdam friendship' exhibition, which explores the relationship between Mr Six and the renowned painter.
Metsu
See the works of one of the Golden Age's most prolific painters - Gabriel Metsu - when you visit the Rijksmuseum between the 16th of December and 20th of March. Newly discovered works will be featured alongside pieces from private collections. Works of art such as Man Writing a Letter and A Woman Writing a Letter - two paintings representing the exchange of love-letters between an elegant lady and gentleman - are some of the treats that will be on offer.
