The task of losing weight can be tough for sure.
It doesn't have to be if you know some simple every day changes to make.
These are just some common sense ways to lose weight.
* Portion control.
If you serve yourself much less than you typically do, you won't notice the difference.
When you eat out, immediately ask for a box and scoop 1/3 of your meal into the box to have the next day.
* Drink water.
Learn to like it, because it's not only good for weight loss, it's important for your health as well.
Don't drink soda, diet soda and sugary juices.
Add some fresh lemon to your water to aid in detoxing.
* Eat a bowl of clear soup (no cream soup) before dinner.
* Cut up some water based vegetables like cucumbers and tomatoes and set it on the table.
If you snack on the vegetables your caloric intake is dramatically reduced.
* Add tons of the vegetables you enjoy into your salads, soups and instead of loading up an omelet with ham and cheese, load it up with vegetables such as green peppers, tomatoes, onions and mushrooms and a tablespoon of salsa.
* Avoid all white foods.
Simple carbs should be eliminated altogether.
Carbs such as white flour, sugar, white rice and white bread and crackers.
Switch to whole grains and brown rice.
People who eat at least 2 servings of whole grains every day are 49% thinner.
* Take up walking.
Anything above and beyond 30 minutes is ideal.
Walking for 30 minutes is excellent for your health, but you don't start to burn fat until after 30 minutes.
* Keep a food journal.
Write in a notebook every single thing you eat and record the calories.
People who use food journals typically eat 15% less than people who don't record their food.
* Don't wear yoga style pants that have elastic waists.
Stick to zip or button style.
If you have sweats or favorite baggy clothes you consider your fat clothes, give them away.
* No more specialty coffee drinks.
Try green tea instead.
* Read packages, boxes and can labels.
Check for fat, sugar and sodium.
* Chew thoroughly and eat slowly.
It takes about 20 minutes for your brain to let you know when you're full.
Don't go back for seconds.
If you can't wait the 20 minutes and you believe you are still hungry, have a fiber rich piece of fruit like an apple.
* Eat breakfast.
Have a high fiber cereal topped with fresh strawberries or banana slices.
Try scrambled eggs with cut up veggies and 1 slice of low-fat cheese melted and 1 piece of lite whole grain toast.
