Recovery From Tik (Crystal Meth) Addiction - Yasmin, 11th Successful Session
Yasmin is a Cape Town ex-tik-addict-to-be who has graciously allowed me to write her recovery story.
Tik, Capetonian for crystal meth, is a big problem in this town.
We hope to encourage others to try the new healing methods that we are using together.
The main technique we are using is EFT, short for Emotional Freedom Techniques.
EFT involves stimulating special acupressure points whilst saying releasing phrases.
We are also using muscle-testing, cold laser, and Reiki as part of the energy healing treatment.
The beauty of using EFT is that in can be taught to the user to help them manage stress and temptations in-between sessions.
We are doing our sessions totally without rehab or residential care.
Yasmin has had nearly a whole week clean just before this session, and she has not bought any tik for weeks.
We started the latest session by healing a time when her ex had been physically aggressive to her just recently, and after their split.
This registered an 8 with Yasmin, on a scale of 10-0.
We tapped (did EFT) for it till it became 0.
I think she must have tapped for it before coming to see me, as it was a horrible experience which would otherwise logically been a 10 out of 10.
We then worked on a physical issue which had come up.
I chose to work on this physical issue in order to release the pain that it was causing.
In my experience, physical pain can drive an addict to their drug of choice.
We totally got rid of the pain for this session, and I gave Yasmin a shortcut form of EFT to use surreptitiously if needed to use in public, in case the pain returns while she is in a public place.
Next, we tapped for ways in which Yasmin can make it clear to friends that they may not smoke at her home.
We also tapped about family members and friends who had been to rehab and were still fully addicted.
There are many aspects to the family and friends thing, and it is an important part of the recovery process.
Finally, I had given Yasmin the task of writing down qualities she would look for in a man.
This is an exercise that helps people to focus on wanting a healthy relationship.
We had started with 10 qualities, reduced them to 5, and now the final task is to reduce them to 3.
Those three qualities are all that is needed to assess a loving partner with whom to start a healthy relationship.
Yasmin is an otherwise healthy, intelligent, and attractive young woman, and being single and vulnerable can lay her wide open to abusive partnerships.
We are working on inner strength, so that when the time is right, she will find someone who will be in tune with her healthy new lifestyle.
I am delighted with Yasmin's progress and look forward to our next session.
Step by step, we are getting there.
