Kids who are fans of the Animal Planet show "Meerkat Manor" will find plenty to enjoy at the Nashville Zoo, which provides a real-life glimpse into the lives of these small animals. In addition to a meerkat habitat, the zoo has exhibits of exotic animals such as Bengal tigers, red pandas and green anacondas. Kids can play at the Jungle Gym, the country's largest community-built playground. The zoo hosts several parties and events during the year for kids and adults, including an overnight Zzzoofari Slumber and a Halloween party.

Founded in 1931, it is known for its high-quality performances and educational opportunities for young actors. It presents four productions each year. In addition to its shows, it hosts camps, classes and clinics year-round for children. The theater provides financial assistance for kids who want to participate in its programs but cannot afford the tuition.

Calling its Friday and Saturday night event "the show that made country famous," the Opry hosts up-and-coming country stars as well as legends throughout the year. The show lasts about two hours. A full lineup is posted each week on the Opry's website. Children between 4 and 11 receive discounted admission.

Several branches host story times multiple times a week for kids of different age. Preschoolers have a story time all their own, and themed story times are planned. The main branch library includes a cast of characters that sings and juggles along with the readings in its children's theater. The main library also hosts marionette and puppetry arts shows several times a week.
