Anybody that has ever given up smoking will tell you that they had to give it up in their own way.
There are not any two of us that are exactly alike; therefore it is imperative that if we are to find success in kicking the habit, we need to do it in the way that will be easiest for us.
For example, some people are not able to stop smoking cold turkey.
They find that it is easier to taper off slowly in an effort to ease the pain of withdrawal.
For those of us that want to stop smoking cold turkey, here is what you can expect.
By being prepared for what you will be experiencing you will be more likely to be able to kick the habit for good.
When you stop smoking cold turkey your body will scream for the nicotine almost immediately.
The good part about quitting in this fashion is that you will be able to get over the physical addictiveness of nicotine in about three days.
This is because that is all it takes for the nicotine and the effects of it to leave your system.
After those three days you will be able to concentrate on your psychological addiction to the habit without having to worry about the physical cravings that you would be feeling.
Many people are not able to distinguish between the two until they feel the difference after the physical addiction has left.
So if you want to stop smoking cold turkey, the best way for you to do it is to jump right in with both feet.
Prepare your mind in advance for the suffering that you are going to have to go through as you end your physical addiction to nicotine.
After this physical addiction is gone, then it is all a mental game of reprogramming your mind to ignore the triggers that used to make you smoke.
It might take several weeks to several months but these cravings will eventually fade and at that point you will be successful in kicking the habit.
