    • 1). Install the wireless adapter device driver software that the manufacturer included on an installation CD. These files help the operating system recognize and use the wireless adapter. After installation is complete, Windows is able to show extra wireless adapters alongside the original or additional wireless adapters presently connected to the PC.

    • 2). Open the "Start" menu and type "View Network Connections" in the search box at the bottom of the menu. Press "Enter" to open the Network Connections window.

    • 3). Click the drop-down menu to the right of the "Change Your View" icon in the upper-right corner of the window. Select "Details" from the menu. This action will reveal the Device Name column in the Network Connections folders. By default, Windows names all wireless adapters with the title "Wireless Network Connection," which does not help to differentiate between multiple adapters.

    • 4). Right-click on the wireless adapter based on its title under the Device Name column. Select "Connect" from the menu to connect to that wireless access point.
