How to Fix a Phone That Already Has Water Damage & Won't Work
- 1). Remove the phone from its power source if you've been attempting to power it on by recharging it. Even if the phone appears to work fine after exposure to water, allowing power to run through it intensifies damage to the phone's innards.
- 2). Open the plastic zipper bag and pour rice inside it until the rice fills the bag roughly halfway. Place the phone inside and then fill the bag the rest of the way with rice and seal it. Rice is a natural desiccant that draws the excess moisture from the phone.
- 3). Wait at least 24 hours and then attempt to charge the phone and power it on. If it doesn't start up immediately, remove it from its power source -- the phone still has water in it.
- 4). Contact a professional to learn about repair options if any exist. Don't open up your own phone as a means of repair unless you've been trained to do so.
