How to Make Weighted Belly Dance Veils
- 1). Cut the fabric for the veil to the desired length. Hem the edges of the fabric, using a sewing machine if you wish.
- 2). Decide where you want your embellishments to go on the fabric; you can place them in rows or sew them in one line along the bottom of the fabric. If you choose to make rows, mark them with sewing chalk as a guideline.
- 3). With needle and thread, sew the design element of your choice along the line of the rows marked by sewing chalk. You can buy these at craft shops or fabric stores, and you can choose the color and design that match your fabric. Small coins and bells will make a lot of noise; sequins will not. Some belly dance instructors and students enjoy the jingling sound of the coins/bells, and some do not, so be aware of this when purchasing and constructing your veil.
