Moving from one location to another tends to be a very stressful activity. Many individuals moving for the first time may perceive the task to be more arduous than it actually is. With careful planning, it may be easier and faster to move than you may have realized. - To seamlessly transition from one location to another, make sure every business establishment you use is aware of your new address. You'll need to change the address of all your magazine and newspaper subscriptions. Fill out change-of-address forms with your banks, utilities and credit card companies. If you're moving far from your current doctor, get a copy of your medical records to give your new doctor. Unplug your major appliances a few days before the move so refrigerators can defrost, for instance.
- Make sure you have plenty of boxes beforehand, along with supplies such as tape, scissors, markers and wrapping paper. Pack each box to capacity in order to ensure your valuables are not damaged during the move. Label all boxes as soon as they're packed to make sure you're as organized as possible.
- If at all possible, move during the weekday. This way, banks and offices are open while you move. Pack your boxes in the moving vehicle efficiently. Place the things you want to move into your new house first in the most easily accessible portion of the vehicle. Its also a good idea to have animals and small children stay with a friend while you move to make the move a little faster.
