Children in schools with diabetes are at more risk and facing a lot of challenges to treat their diabetes.
The main problem is with the lack of good nurses.
The schools have very low budgets and they cannot afford teachers and nurses both.
So due to the cut in the budgets children are facing lot of issues to handle their diabetes problems.
School Funding: The state governments should take immediate steps to increase the funding for nurses in schools in order to recruit the nurses full time in school.
The US census reported that approximately that 56,000 nurses worked full time in schools.
So for every 950 students there is only one nurse available in schools from cost-to-cost.
Training teachers: Teachers in schools should also be given some fundamental medical training so that they can help small children to inject their insulin and also to take care of their healthy meals.
In this way we can relay on teachers to do some preliminary stuff and if there is something serious they can always give call to 911.
Part time health workers should be encouraged so if possible some interns from the medical schools can also be encouraged to take up these positions but the fact is that these jobs are very low paying and not that lucrative enough to attach the "real" medical professionals.
In this kind of situation parents play a primary role in taking care of their children.
They should teach their children to check their blood levels at constant intervals and if they are feeling sick, they should immediately contact they school teacher.
The children should be thought about the food habits, good food should only be taken which is low in carbs and fat in order to maintain the sugar levels in the body.
