- 1). Ensure your Weed Eater has enough gas remaining in the tank. Add extra gasoline if the tank appears low, and try to start the motor again. The gas tank is a small plastic container with a screw cap.
- 2). Ensure the "On" switch is active and the safety lock is disabled. Some models of Weed Eater have safety features to prevent playing children from starting the appliance.
- 3). Move the choke lever to "Full Choke" when you are starting the Weed Eater from cold. The choke regulates the fuel/air mixture that enters the engine. Move the choke lever to "Off Choke" after the engine has been running for about 10 seconds.
- 4). Dump out the fuel currently inside the tank, and replace with fresh gasoline. Fuel can grow stale during prolonged periods of inactivity. Water and dirt can also contaminate the fuel mixture and enter the engine.
- 5). Swap out the spark plugs with suitable replacements. Damaged or malfunctioning spark plugs will prevent the engine from igniting fuel and idling properly.
