Do you have an upcoming presentation, documentary, educational or corporate event video to shoot? If you want professional results then you need the right camcorder.

To really deliver a top quality video you will need total control of how you are recording your film.

Professional camcorders give you advanced manual control. Easily edited output format and superior image quality. As well as compatibility for audio and lighting accessories .

To shoot like a pro you need to use what the pro's use.

Professional camcorders can cost an arm and a leg. You will be happy to hear that professional and pro-sumer models are becoming more alike.

Since the introduction of High Definition a few years ago what was once only available on pro models is now the industry standard. Cell phones and point and shoots are all coming out with hd now.

The consumer cameras of today are arguably better than the professional models of just a few years ago.

What about the pro camcorders being produced today?

Pro models will have easy to reach full manual control of zoom, focus, audio, gain, shutter and exposure. Real controls, as in knobs and rings.

A consumer or pro-sumer model will have some of these manual controls but not all and they will be harder to access. Quite often buried several screens deep in the touch screen menus.

Professional Camcorders will have larger, interchangeable lenses. Giving more user control. Adding interchangeable lenses will allow you to gain control over low light situations, depth of field, macro and telephoto shots.

Pro level camcorders will have a larger sensor. This will dramatically increase the ability of the camcorder to capture light increasing the capability to shoot in low light while still giving rich color depth.

One of the biggest differences between professional vs consumer camcorders is price point. High definition consumer camcorders can be found from under two hundred dollars up to a few thousand dollars for the high end. Pro models can set you back several thousand dollars.

As with anything it's not so much about the equipment as it is about the person using it. A skilled shooter can do wonders with an inexpensive camcorder while a novice using the best professional gear may not get the result they're looking for.
