How to Avoid Overeating
The main problem is that most of us don't know anything about culture of eating. We don't swallow well enough, eat a lot of artificial food and don't provide organism with necessary amount of microelements and vitamins. But don't think it's impossible to learn eating moderately!
Eat natural food. Packaged and processed foods don't satisfy enough. That's why it's always better to eat a banana and sandwich with tuna, for example, rather than a pack of cookies or chips. Besides, desserts should never be your meals. These are treats, and they can't replace salad with meat or salad.
Fight your cravings. If you feel needy for salty or sugary snacks, be careful not to follow these longings! Many people don't notice how many unhealthy snacks they have during the day! One candy, a couple of cookies, chips and salty peanuts€¦ And voila! - plus 500 (or even more) extra calories!
Ask yourself whether you really want and need to eat. Often we eat through inertia without understanding if we really need it. As soon as you start controlling yourself and thinking twice before making a bite, you will see that the amount of food you consumer per day has decreased greatly.
Eat slowly. Eating quickly is one of the main reasons of overeating. The thing is that it takes some time for a brain to register you are satisfied. Chew food slowly and carefully. If you don't feel full, wait for 20 minutes - after this time you will understand whether you really need to have an additional portion of food.
Know your portions. It's very important to know how much food is enough for you to feel satisfied. I recommend you buying kitchen scales - they will help you to control portion sizes and eat within lines.
Don't eat in front of the TV. TV steals not only free time, but also makes all your efforts to become slim useless. TV is a hypnotizing box, and eating in front of it turns into uncontrolled process. It's impossible to enjoy food (and control satisfaction) when watching something.
Think mint.It may sound strange, but taste of peppermint helps signal about satisfaction to reach brain faster. No wonder not only dentists, but also dietitians recommend chewing peppermint gum or brushing teeth after every meal. Plus, knowing you have just brushed your teeth will prevent you from eating more.
Follow these simple rules and you will see that your diet has changed. After even 2 weeks of such regime you will start forgetting what overeating is.
