How to Decorate Tables for Baby Showers

    • 1). Cover tables with pastel-colored tablecloths. If you know the gender of the child, use colors associated with the sex, such as pink and purple for girls and blue and green for boys. Use one color for the tablecloths and another for the napkins, or use two colors for both napkins and tablecloths. Alternate the colors throughout the room. For example, if it's a girl, put pink tablecloths on some tables and purple on others. Put purple napkins on the pink tablecloths and pink napkins on the purple tablecloths. For a simpler look, use white tablecloths and colored napkins.

    • 2). Use place cards for the guests if you are planning a sit-down meal. Print baby photos of the guests on the cards to give them a whimsical touch. You will need to get a baby photo from each guest before the event.

    • 3). Get a small Christmas tree or cut a branch with many small offshoots. Set it on the table. If you're using a branch, put it in a vase, and secure it, using either foam or stones. Decorate the tree with baby items, such as diaper pins, bottle nipples and miniature baby items found in the doll aisle of a toy store.

    • 4). Weave strips of satin or tulle between the dishes of food. Select a color that complements the tablecloths or the same color or colors in a darker shade.

    • 5). Place flowers in small vases, baby bottles or other containers. Flowers are classic and bring cheer to a party. Check with guests to determine if anyone is allergic to particular flowers. Use flowers in shades of pink or blue if you know the gender of the baby. Place them in the center of each table or on the food table.
