Dum Maro Dum's Dumdaar dialogues
Dum Maro Dum has been shot in Goa and will be in theatres on 22nd April 2011. Bollywood music composer, Pritam Chakraborty has composed the music for the film. One of the highlights of the film is Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone' s item number in which she will be seen gyrating to the remix version of the seventies popular track Dum Maro Dum which was originally sung by Asha Bhonsle and composed by R. D. Burman for the 1971 cult film Hare Krishna Hare Rama by Dev Anand. The original song was picturised on yesteryears actress, Zeenat Aman. The name of the film Dum Maro Dum has also been borrowed from this track. Dum Maro Dum also has Abhishek Bachchan as a singer. Aby Baby has sung a racy and a pacy song, ‘Thayn Thayn' which will be used in the end titles for the film. This is for the second time that Abhishek will be singing for Rohan Sippy, the first time being for the 2005 film BluffMaster.
The film has been raking up controversy and has invited the ire of several people as it exposes the underbelly of the coastal state of Goa. Goa has been described as a hub for drugs, sex, liquor and crime. Bollywood actress, Bipasha Basu's dialogue, "Here in Goa, liquor is cheap but girls are cheaper" has offended women activists groups in Goa, who have found the dialogue to be derogatory for Goanese women. The overall projection of the tourist state in the film is in the negative light which is detrimental.
