    • 1). Place your plastic bin in the location where you will be setting up the aquarium. You should not put your plastic bin in direct sunlight. Allow at least 5 inches of space between the plastic bin and the wall. This will provide room for the filter and other mounted accessories.

    • 2). Rinse the gravel that you will be using in the aquarium thoroughly with clean water. If you will be adding any ceramic or plastic decorations to your aquarium, rinse them as well. This will remove any toxins that could harm your fish. Gently place the gravel in the bottom of the tank.

    • 3). Place a plate on top of the gravel and begin adding water into the tank by pouring it onto the plate. This will prevent the gravel from becoming stirred up. When the aquarium is full, remove the plate. If you are using tap water, make sure that you add a water neutralizer.

    • 4). Place the plants and any decorations in the plastic bin. Arrange them as you like. Attach the filter and heater to the back of the tank and plug them into the outlet. Wait 24 hours for the water temperature to stabilize. At this point you can begin introducing fish into the plastic bin.
