Things That Indicate That Voyager 1 Has Left Our Solar System

How fascinating that this man-made piece of equipment has left our solar system and is on its way to bring us knowledge from our galaxy which is further from the sun's affects that anything has ever travelled. We dream of what is beyond the beginning of the mysterious Milky Way. We want to know what influence these massive groups of stars have on our lives. There are things that indicate that Voyager I has left our solar system.

One is the dip in the number of solar particles. The other is that the particles will grow very large. We'll know for sure when Voyager tells us that solar particles totally disappear. We are looking at a region of space that is eleven billion miles away from earth.

The heliosphere of the sun is a place of which we have very little information. We do know that it has many charged particles that are controlled by the sun's magnetic field. Then there is the heliopause transition area which we know even less about. We'll know that we have found it when the Voyager shows a change in the local magnetic field. Models that have been constructed before this mission seem to fit the findings that indicate that Voyager 1 has left our solar system and has indeed entered interstellar space. This may have actually taken place over a year ago and was located in a sketchy area between the sun and the rest of the galaxy.

NASA has been watching Voyager for more than eight years. They have been documenting it travel through the outer layer of the heliosphere and everything that they are witnessing is brand new to them. They have €counted' dips in solar particles while at the same time seeing increased numbers in electrons and protons. Soon only solar particles were gone within a month. Then only the particles from the galaxy remained. Also, no change in the magnetic field was discovered.

Some scientists believe that there is another way of looking at the situation. They believe that it may be directed to the sun's solar flares. Solar flares do have an effect on earth. They cause problems with our satellite systems that fly around earth's atmosphere. The cause and effect of the increased numbers of electrons and protons is an important issue and along with further travel around the sun and further into the galaxy, we will learn much more about not only our stars but other stars as well.
