120 Stories Tall? In Phoenix? Really?

Dateline: April 1

At a press conference this morning, April 1, it was announced that a project for Arizona's tallest building is being considered. Located in downtown Phoenix in the area currently occupied by a parking garage south of Jefferson between 3rd and 4th Streets, and at 120 stories tall, it will dwarf the 40-story Chase Tower (which old-timers in the area will remember as the Valley National Bank Building) which is currently the tallest building in Arizona.

Although most of the tenants will be businesses, the east side of the tower between the 6th floor and the 120th floors will be comprised of premium priced condos, on the assumption that when the roof is open at Chase Field, residents will be able to see the Arizona Diamondbacks games from their perched positions on the balconies.

What do you think the building should be named?

Happy April Fool's Day!

The photo on the page is actually a picture of a building in London. They refer to it as the Gherkin Building. It does look like a pickle, doesn't it? The tallest building in the world is in Dubai and has 163 floors. In the U.S. only four buildings, two in New York City and two in Chicago, have more than 100 stories (2015).
