The 2 Broke Girls are Max, a tough young woman working two jobs to make ends meet, and Caroline, a former heiress fallen on hard times. They work together at a Brooklyn diner, trying to put together enough money to open their own business and realize their dreams.

2 Broke Girls was the subject of a bidding war before the pilot was produced, with CBS picking up the series for its 2011-2012 season.
Co-creator Whitney Cummings had both 2 Broke Girls and NBC’s Whitney picked up for that season. After debuting as one of the most highly rated new shows of the 2011-2012 season, it was quickly picked up for a second season.
