Paris Gibson Square is one of the focal points of the downtown area of Great Falls, Montana.
The building once served as Central High School, after being dedicated in 1896.
Thirty-four years later, it became Paris Gibson Junior High, and retained that title for forty-five years.
This means that the building has served as a center for education in Great Falls for over one hundred years.
In 1977, the building was renovated by community volunteers and is now a nationally registered historic landmark.
The community uses the Paris Gibson Square to promote and celebrate art and culture in Great Falls.
The architecture of the building is elegant, with a stone façade that lends a regal air.
The appearance of the building is in direct contrast to the colorful contemporary art that adorns seven galleries inside, and the modern sculptures that decorate the gardens.
You can enjoy the work of several Montana artists, as well as internationally known artists.
The Paris Gibson Square sponsors several events throughout the year.
The summer months are perfect for activities in the out of doors, such as July's Garden Walk.
Not only will you get a chance to see four of the most beautiful gardens in Great Falls, but you will also get a chance to speak to the owners and get gardening advice and tricks from them! In October, Paris Gibson Square holds A Night of Jazz and Spirits.
The fun begins with the Spirited Trolley Tour, which stops at various locations throughout Great Falls for beautiful food and wine pairings.
The next night, you can enjoy some more fantastic wine, scrumptious hors d'oeuvres, a silent auction, the amazing artwork, and then a performance of classic Jazz music.
Please remember that all attendees must be twenty-one or older, and that the tickets are limited in number.
There are also several classes and workshops available at Paris Gibson Square.
Men and women of all ages can enjoy yoga classes for any level of experience and physical ability.
For a bit more movement, you can check out the T'ai Chi Chuan classes that are available to students at any experience level.
Those with a more artistic flair will enjoy the art classes.
There is a class for every age, beginning with the Preschool Open Art Studio, which focuses on children aged three to six.
The Drawing Animals class is also a favorite with children.
Other classes include Pottery, Calligraphy, and Paper Mache Sculpture.
