How to Become a Certified Life Coach (IAC)
- 1). Learn and implement the areas of mastery advocated by the IAC. The nine masteries involve client trust, developing client potential, engaged listening, processing in the present, expressing, clarifying, client intentions, inviting possibilities, and supportive systems and structures.
- 2). Apply for membership with the IAC. Pay the fee and enter application information on the IAC website.
- 3). Take the free sample test for part one of the certification exam to determine readiness for the official exam. If needed, take lessons from a licensee authorized to provide training on the IAC areas of mastery.
- 4). Register and pay the fee for part one of the exam on the IAC website. Take part one of the exam online. It can be completed over several sessions.
- 5). Register and pay the fee for part two of the exam on the IAC website. Submit two hours of recorded coaching sessions that demonstrate competency in the nine areas of mastery. Part two of the exam involves evaluation of the recorded coaching sessions.
- 6). Await results of the coach certification exam. If there are questions about the sessions provided for part two of the exam, an interview may be scheduled before certification is provided.
