Horse Race Betting Success - Specialize (Part 2)

If you are trying to make money from horse race betting the more knowledge you can get the better.
I want to emphasise the word knowledge as opposed to information.
In racing circles information is available from just about everywhere.
The racing papers, tipsters and race course rumour just to name three.
There is no substitute for knowledge it will always stand you in good stead especially when combined with experience.
But information can be just one step away from gossip or hearsay.
The point I am making is that each national newspaper has its own tipsters who will give you their opinion of who will win each race.
The television pundits will also give you reasons why their selections should win.
The only problem is they are often giving you different selections.
It is not the tipsters fault, they have to provide selections for every race and often in fairly quick time.
Therefore it is not surprising that their success rate can be quite low.
You are not under the same pressure and can afford to take your time in making your selections.
First of all do not try and back in every race that is run.
If you want to see how successful that can be just go into any bookmakers at the start of racing and watch most of the customers leave long before the end of the last race as they run out of money.
The real answer to success is to specialise possibly just on flat, national hunt or all weather racing.
Some successful gamblers even drill down further and concentrate purely on sprint races or national hunt hurdle races.
As a specialist you have more chance to concentrate on the horses that run in these types of races, their trainers and jockeys.
As you become more knowledgeable your chances of finding the winner will improve.
For instance there are some trainers who always like to tune their horse up to win first time out at the beginning of the season.
Others prefer to give them a race or two to tune up before they run into form.
You can also learn which stables like to have a bet when they think their horse will win and those that don't.
Many people believe in "following the money".
With knowledge you will know when to do this and when not.
So the first step to success is to gain knowledge and to specialize.
