Three Qualities to Get an Internship in Sports
However, if you are interested in doing an internship in sports, there are certain qualities that can set you apart from the rest of the competition.
After completing my research, it became evident to me that there are three specific qualities that one can posses that can make them stand out.
It seems as though most companies are looking for interns that display good communication skills, are personable, and have a passion for sports.
Communication is arguably the most important quality that one can posses.
You need to be able to communicate not only with your customers, but also your co-workers, and your suppliers.
Communicating effectively with your customers is vital if you want to keep their business.
In addition to that, you must be on the same page as the other co-workers to ensure that the daily operation runs smoothly.
Finally, working with your suppliers is also crucial.
There must be an understanding between the parties of when a shipment is going to be delivered and that it will be there in a timely and orderly fashion.
My research indicated to me that businesses want interns that are personable.
They need to be able to relate to the customer and make them feel like working with your company was a wise decision.
You must be able to develop a relationship with the customer and earn their trust.
This will lead to more business and a more satisfied customer.
The last quality that companies look for in their interns is that they have a passion for sports.
The intern should love what he/she is doing and enjoy coming to work each day.
It is also important that he/she understands sports so that they can relate to what it is going on and be able to hold a conversation with others.
Not understanding a sport can make it comfortable for someone that is trying to have a conversation with you.
Having a passion for sports will make the job less stressful and more enjoyable.
In conclusion, it is evident that there are certain things that companies look for in interns.
Although some companies want different qualities, my research shows me that there are three qualities that most companies would agree are important to be being successful in the world of sports.
If you display good communication skills, are personable, and have a passion for sports, then you certainly have the potential to be very successful in this business.
