(1) Selecting specific, rather than general job targets and listing them in  priority order. (2) Learning the importance of comprehensive employer research by understanding their mission, vision, goals, problems, and objectives. (3) Knowing exactly why you are the best person for the job by identifying your unique skills and transferable skill sets.

 What are the three most common fears of graduates? 

(1) Afraid good jobs are already taken. (2)  Deciding whether to stay or relocate. (3) Little time to do an effective job search.

 Why is everyone a resume/cv expert?

Anyone who has ever written a resume or cv considers themselves an expert.  The list includes family, friends, and professional resume preparers, who promise to write the entire document for you.  Consider the pros and cons of each suggestion, ask for references, and make your own decision after you have completed your research.

 Why are hiring perceptions important to a job search? 

They can make or break a job search and create unnecessary stress.It is important for graduates to make sure their perceptions are grounded with facts.Employers appreciate a well informed candidate. 

How can college graduates work for a lifetime?

The global job market constantly fluctuates according to current economic circumstances. Graduates have to keep learning and adapting to changes in the work place. Try to always go outside your comfort zone by exploring all hiring options with a Plan A, B, C simultaneously.

 Why is it important for graduates to view the job search from an employer's point of view?

Knowing the type of candidate the employer wants to hire and understanding the company or organizational culture is critical.If graduates can identify the employer's problems and concerns it demonstrates your professionalism and determination to get hired.

 "Caveat emptor" let the candidate beware. Graduates must be careful when posting their  personal information on social websites. They must read their policy statements regarding the accessibility of their data.  It can make or break a job offer because many employers are checking social networks as part of their screening process. You may never know if you were not given an interview because of your public profiles.

Why write a post-interview thank you or a rejection letter thank you?

  Both are important.  Sending a thank you within 24 hours of an interview can help convince an employer to hire you.  It demonstrates professionalism. Post rejection thank you letters also let the employer know you are disappointed,but still interested in  the position if it becomes available again.
