About the history of the place

This fort was constructed during the reign of Tipu Sultan in the year 1790. This was his summer palace. It is said by the historians, that he managed the affair of the court from the upper balconies, of the palace.

After the death of Tipu Sultan in a battle against the British, this palace came into their hands. The palace was used by the British as the secretariat until the year 1867.
