Determine if you are going to the UK (England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales), northern Europe (Finland, Sweden), or southern Europe (France, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, etc.). Plug the power adapter or voltage convertor into the wall socket in Europe. You may have to put a plug adaptor on your power adaptor in order to plug it into the socket. In North America, we use 120 Volt current, while Europe runs 220-240 Volt current. While some electronic devices can adjust to the differences between 120 and 220 volt current, not all of them can. So, the power adaptor will do this adjustment for you. Most camera battery chargers and notebook computers do not require a power adapter. However, I use mine anyway to be on the same side. - 3

Low setting (0-25 watts) is used with electronic shavers, radios, and curling irons. High setting (125-1875 watts) is used with hair dryers, irons, steamers, and other items. The North American phone jack is a different shape from those in Great Britain (UK) and Continental Europe.
