    Banking Institutes

    • U.S. banks will accept foreign currency in the form of paper money at most physical locations including main banks and branches. There is typically a fee for exchanging foreign money, but bank customers may be exempt or be eligible for a reduced charge.

    Airports

    • Airports have money exchange operations that will handle the trade of paper currency, but they will not accept coins. Money exchange facilities at airports are open 24 hours a day. You will typically be charged a service charge in addition to the exchange rate difference.

    Hotels

    • Check with your local hotel to trade in foreign currency for U.S. dollars. As this option can be costly thanks to a high service charge, exchange money at a hotel as a last resort.
