    Description

    • The Tall Clubs International awards two scholarships, the Kae Sumner Einfeldt and Virginia Linquist Winker scholarships, each year to students attending their first year of college. The scholarships, worth $1,000, can be used to cover tuition, fees, and room and board or supplies. The number of scholarships awarded each year varies and the recipients are determined by the Tall Clubs International Scholarship Committee based on nominations submitted by one of the 56 local Tall Club chapters in the United States and Canada. In addition to the national awards, some of the local chapters also award their own scholarships to local students.

    Qualifications

    • To qualify for a Tall Clubs International scholarship, you must be under 21, entering your first year of college and meet the height requirements. As of March 2011, male applicants must be at least 6 feet, 2 inches tall, and female applicants must be at least 5 feet, 10 inches tall. Applicants are judged based on their academic achievements, extracurricular involvement and educational plans. They must submit an essay, two recommendations, SAT or ACT scores and a transcript.

    Application Procedure

    • If you want to apply for a Tall Clubs International scholarship, you must be sponsored by a Tall Clubs International Member Club. To locate the club closest to you, visit the Tall Clubs International website and search the member clubs by major city or club name. If there isn't a club near you, choose the club that is closest; most clubs will only sponsor applicants who live within 100 miles of the club. Some clubs have an student scholarship campaign, in which the club chooses a representative from a pool of applicants to submit to the scholarship committee, while other clubs may simply review any applicant who contacts the club. The member club will provide you with an application and if you win the scholarship, will host a scholarship presentation. You should inquire about the scholarship in January of each year.

    Disqualification

    • When you apply for a Tall Clubs International scholarship, you'll be required to prove that you meet the height requirement. The height requirement is extremely specific and stringent, and if you aren't tall enough, do not apply. If you are found to have lied about your height, you'll be disqualified.

    Tall Clubs International Foundation

    • The Tall Clubs International scholarship is funded by the Tall Clubs International Foundation, Inc. a non-profit organization completely separate from the club. The Tall Clubs International Foundation only provides the money for the scholarship and does not choose the recipients or answer inquiries about the scholarship or application process.
