This Christmas is going to be a little better than last.
Last year, the economy was worse off and things seem to now be recovering slowly.
The pay increase freeze has worn off at most jobs and we now have a little bit more money to buy presents with.
That's why I wanted to go all out on Christmas and get my mom something really special.
She has always worked with arts and crafts for as long as I can remember.
And last week, she mentioned having seen a product called the Cricut on television.
I did some research and found out that it is a cutting machine that can be stand alone from a computer.
Oddly enough, after I looked it up on the computer, that night I saw the commercial for the first time.
It actually looks much like a computer printer because of the shape.
However, the Cricut has more controls and features than a regular printer.
This product seems to be a good fit for my Mom and similar people who have an interest or hobby with arts and crafts.
The machine cuts paper, vinyl, and a few other material by following a few steps.
From what I've seen, it also etches glass which is actually very neat.
The only thing that I am considering now is whether or not to give it to my Mom early.
She usually makes some type of Christmas decoration and this device would be perfect for that.
Then again, waiting might make it all the more worth it.
