Removing Washable Vinyl Wallpaper
- 1). Start at the bottom corner of the vinyl wallpaper. Scrape gently with a putty knife or paint scraper until the corner lifts up.
- 2). Grasp the corner of the wallpaper, and pull upward until the top layer comes off.
- 3). Repeat Steps 1 and 2 until you have completely removed the top layer of vinyl wallpaper. When pulling the paper, pull upward only, not downward since the paper pulls easier.
- 4). Saturate the wall covering with a wallpaper removal liquid until the exposed bottom layer is damp. Depending on the brand of chemical used, you may have to spray the liquid on the material or brush it on with a paintbrush.
- 5). Leave the chemical on the surface for 20 minutes. Start at the bottom, and scrape the bottom layer of wallpaper off the wall carefully with a putty knife or paint scraper. Use a paper towel to wipe the knife or scraper clean after each pass.
- 6). Repeat Step 5 if any wallpaper remains. Wipe the wall with a damp cloth to remove the cleaner and wallpaper paste residue.
