THE IMPORTANCE OF MINERALS TO PRESERVE LIFE Is important to understand the role that minerals play in our body, many important body functions required certain minerals in order to operate correctly.
Minerals unlike vitamins cannot be produce by our bodies, which is why adequate consumption is important.
As important as Minerals are, we cannot simply load all these nutrients to our bodies at once, every mineral that is required by our bodies has an specific amount and specific way on how it should be taken to help the body better absorb it.
The amounts of minerals our bodies need depend on many different factors including, mineral content of the soil, diet, health, and the interaction of the minerals with other substances that the product may contain.
It's important to always choose the most natural sources of minerals, when taking extra supplementation.
Minerals are divided into two major groups.
The two major groups are Macro minerals (large minerals) and Micro minerals (minor minerals).
Macro minerals are needed by the body in high quantities, generally the dose exceeds 200 milligrams RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance).
In contrast the body needs Micro minerals, generally in trace amounts, usually less than 200 milligrams per day.
Like vitamins, minerals function as coenzymes, which enables the chemical reactions that occurs throughout the body.
After the nutrients have been absorbed they become part of the structure of the body, some nutrients that are left remaining in the body are utilize immediately and other times store to be use over a period of time.
CAN WE GET ALL THE MINERALS AND VITAMINS OUR BODY NEEDS FROM FOOD? The RDA values given can't usually be met by only depending on our daily diet, in most cases extra supplementation is needed.
There are RDA's (Recommended Daily Allowance) for every Vitamin but if you are worry about toxicity or overdosing keep in mind that there is essentially no mineral far more toxic than any drug you can buy over the counter at the usual local drug store.
To reach levels of toxicity from minerals supplements you must take repetitive massive high dosages usually for an extended period of time.
In 2002 the idea that most people don't benefit from extra supplementation came to a halt when in June of that year the prestigious JOURNAL OF THE AMERICAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION published an article by two Harvard researchers after they had reviewed thirty years of English articles that showed correlation between Vitamins, Minerals and chronic diseases.
The researchers recommended that " all adults should take one multivitamin daily" in the summary of their work they state that a large portion of the population does not receive the optimal intake levels on a number of different vitamins, which puts them at risk of popular diseases that can be cause by low nutritional levels and even more serious illness such as cancer, osteoporosis and cardiovascular diseases.
