How to Repel Pest Animals in a Yard
- 1). Surround your yard with fences to deter pest animals. For pest animals that dig, fences must be set deep into the ground to block them off.
- 2). Cover gardens or other areas bothered by pest animals with netting. Lift and adjust the netting once a week to allow new plant growth.
- 3). Trap unwanted pest animals using live, humane traps purchased at hardware and outdoor goods stores. Call your local animal control department to collect dangerous animals for re-release or humane sedation.
- 4). Repel pest animals using odors. Many pest animals avoid the scent of deodorant, urine, and domesticated animal scent.
- 5). Scare pest animals away using bright lights and sudden, loud sounds. Hanging objects in trees that clang when moved scares away some pests.
