    • 1). Shut of the main water valve by turning it to the off position. The water valves to the sink faucet are usually located under the sink itself.

    • 2). Take off the faucet handle by unscrewing the locking nut on the front of the handle with an Allen wrench or screwdriver. Slide the handle off.

    • 3). Remove the ball cap that fits over the top of the faucet head by turning it to the left. Use a rag to provide grip on this part.

    • 4). Take the cam and packing off of the faucet if they are part of your faucet assembly. Twist them off or remove them by pulling them straight up and out of the faucet. Remove the ball valve from the faucet head by lifting it out. All of these parts are located on the faucet head but their position varies depending on your faucet.

    • 5). Lift the faucet head off of the faucet base by hand. Be careful when removing this part. Rotate it slightly and lift up if the part does not lift straight off the faucet.

    • 6). Take out the diverter by inserting a screwdriver into the base of the faucet and gently prying the diverter out. This is the valve that sends water to the faucet head and spray nozzle.

    • 7). Replace the diverter with a new one matched to your specific faucet, or clean the diverter in a solution of one part water, one part vinegar and reinstall it in the faucet body.

    • 8). Replace the faucet head, packing, cam and ball valve in the faucet head. Twist the ball cap back into place and install the handle. Then tighten the handle screw.

    • 9). Turn on your water and test the spray nozzle.
