Installation of a Bicycle Kickstand
- 1). Lean the bike up against a wall at an approximately 30-degree angle with the gears facing you and the pedal pointing toward the front of the bike.
- 2). Unscrew the large bolt from the kickstand assembly. Remove it and the small plate that it passes through.
- 3). Slide the bolt with plate assembly through the small rectangular area directly behind the bike's bottom bracket. The bottom bracket is the circular housing that the bike's pedal axles go through.
- 4). Adjust the plate with your fingers so that the curved or concave part of the plate fits over both sides of the bike's frame, with the bolt facing straight down through the frame.
- 5). Slide the corresponding plate and kickstand arm up onto the bottom of the bolt. Thread the bolt into the threaded plate on the kickstand arm and tighten it finger tight.
- 6). Tighten the bolt with a 14 mm open-end wrench until completely tight.
- 7). Slide the kickstand back into its horizontal position. Pick up the back end of the bike and spin the back wheel to check for rubbing. If the kickstand touches the back tire, adjust the kickstand mounts and check again before riding the bike.
