Career Highlights:
- Known as one of the greatest left-handers of the Negro Leagues, he threw hard and had a great changeup and good curve.
- Won 26 consecutive games in 1926, and went 18-3 in 1927.
- Once shut out an All-Star team of major leaguers, throwing eight no-hit innings.
- Is credited with a career record of 143-69 with a 2.40 ERA in Negro League play.
After Retirement:
- Played semipro ball and was baseball coach and dean of men at his alma mater, Alcorn College.
