Should You Use Social Bookmarking Software?

There are loads of different services and software systems out there that claim to be able to automate large parts of the work that you do to promote your website or your online articles, videos, music or whatever it may be that you want to promote, and therefore to make you large sums of money from helping you to succeed, without you having to work 15 hours per day to get there.
You can get article submission software, automatic directory submissions, dofollow blog commenting software that will search for blog posts with a dofollow comments section that are related to the keywords that you are targeted, and loads more besides.
One of the main ones that you will see advertised in social bookmarking submissions software.
Basically this allows you to submit a link to your page that you are promoting to hundreds of different social bookmarking sites at once.
Obviously there can be some benefit to this in promoting that page, but you need to be very careful.
Firstly, if you get a hundred links going in to one page on one day, and then none after that, and they are all from social bookmarking sites, Google may well smell a rat and penalize your site.
Also, you have to realize that if you are submitting the same link, with the same anchor text, and the same description, then that is not ideal.
With no unique content there is nothing to get the pages created for you on these sites listed in Google themselves - which increases the value that they pass on to your site, and if they all have the exact same anchor text for the link then once again Google may well notice this and if not actually penalize your site, then at least ignore all the links you are created.
So you may well save time compared to submitting all of those links manually, but that doesn't mean there will be any value for your website.
Also you have to be very careful about which sites you submit which links to.
If you are constantly submitting irrelevant links to niche sites, or adding links to the wrong category, because you are doing it through an automated system, then you may well find your accounts getting closed down, your ip address banned from opening new ones, and your website url being added to spam lists, which are often shared between sites meaning that you could cause yourself very serious problems.
