Dealing With Terrible Twos, Are You in Charge of Your Kids Or Are They in Charge of You?

It may be of little compensation if you are dealing with terrible twos but take heart most parents have been there.
I know my parent and I certainly went through that stage.
We have emerged from the other side, not without a few battle scars but into the light at the end of the tunnel.
There are a number of issues relating to the terrible twos phase, unfortunately it may occur at ages two onwards, some of which do not even concern the kids.
Do you feel that both you and your partner are more on edge with each other even though the situation is not of your making? When we went through this, arguments could come out of nowhere, arguments that were not really about anything, just because we were more on edge.
One problem is that one of you has much more exposure to the kids.
In this case it was my partner.
When I came home the kids might be playing up but I would see the funny side of it whereas my partner who had already had this for large parts of the day would not.
This created a definite mismatch of views and a potential discussion point, putting it politely.
Now it is all well and good knowing that this phase is down to kids testing their independence and trying things out.
But that does not make it easier to deal with as it happens.
Also sometimes it seems the kids have also learnt how to wind you up and they quite like trying that on as well.
What you will probably also have found is that there are any number of people willing to give you advice on dealing with terrible twos.
This certainly would tie in with my experience.
I got lucky in that I was working overseas for a short time but had time to do more research and consider solutions to the problem.
I found something that worked for my whole family.
This earned me many gold stars with my partner and cut through the cycle of bribes and threats we had previously been using when dealing with terrible twos.
