Ways to Get Things Donated For Your Local Theatre Group

Theatre is something that many people are passionate about whether they are the people on the stage or the ones going to the shows as an audience member.
Many local community theatres as well as theatre departments at schools typically do not have much funding or big budgets to help them with the things they need to put on a show.
This article will discuss things these theatre groups can do to stretch their dollars such as having a clothing donation drive as well as buying wholesale brand name cosmetics and wholesale brand name makeup that is so necessary for these departments.
The first suggestion is to have a used clothing drive with specific types of clothing items to be donated in your community.
For example, an ad put into the local paper requesting business suits, formal dresses, or costumes to be donated to the theatre would be a great way to get needed costumes for future productions and a way for the community to not only get rid of unwanted items but a way for them to help the local arts program.
Because donations would be going to a non-profit art group, they should be able to get a tax refund on what they donated.
Another suggestion to help get things for less money for your theatre company would be to go to flea markets or consignment shops to pick up some vintage pieces that may be useful for your costumes.
Many great items can be found at these shops and often times when you mention that they are for a school production or a community theatre, they will offer you a larger discount on the items.
Make-up and hair is a large part of a theatre group and how often they need to use it.
Because, larger quantities of makeup is usually needed to put on all of the actors and actresses in the show, it would be a great idea to buy the makeup in bulk or from a wholesale type of shop or website.
This will save significant money for the theatre group and would also offer using separate eye makeup for all of the individuals to avoid spreading eye infections from one person to another.
Many talented artists can be found either at the local high schools or at different community centers that offer art classes.
These artists may be able to donate their talents to help out the theatre department.
Many high school students today must have community service hours in order to graduate and their help in building or painting parts of the set would be a great way to get free help and they get a benefit from it as well.
Another place to maybe get a seamstress to help with the costumes would be at the local community college for a student who wants to do fashion design later on.
Helping a theatre group would be great experience for them and very useful for the theatre as well.
