How to Make a Credit Card Payment to Bank of America From Another Institution
- 1). Enroll in online banking on the Bank of America website if you haven't already done so. Open a Web browser and navigate to the B of A online banking home page (see Resources). Provide your account information.
- 2). Log in to your new Bank of America online banking account by entering your user name and password in the login fields. Navigate to the "Bill Pay" tab and click "Go to Bill Pay".
- 3). Click the "Pay To/Pay From" tab. Enter your credit card information once more but this time under the "Pay To" button.
- 4). Click the "Pay From" tab. Enter the details for your checking account at another institution. You must know your bank's nine digit routing number and your checking account number to complete this step. Both of these numbers can be found on any check from your account.
- 5). Submit your information and wait while your account is confirmed. Bank of America will make a micro-deposit (usually less than $0.40) to your alternate checking account to verify that the account exists. This transaction may require up to two business days.
- 6). Use your newly verified online account to make convenient transfers from your financial institution's checking account to your Bank of America credit card account.
