Using Vinyl Decals to Make a Temporary Residence Feel Like Home

Using vinyl decals to make a temporary residence feel like home is an excellent option for people living in a variety of housing situations.
The Problem: Making a temporary residence feel like home can sometimes feel like an impossible goal.
Many rentals, whether they are apartments, condos, or private houses, have stipulations about what can or cannot be done to the walls.
In most cases, occupants are limited in aspects such as painting walls, hanging wall paper, or even hanging frames or shelves.
The Solution: Until the last few years, people in this type of situations have been limited to what they could do.
Sometimes doing something like hanging colorful curtain could have helped, but it still left the occupants staring at a large, blank wall.
With the introduction and expansion of the vinyl cutting industry, there are now many options which allow aspiring home decorators to bring life and personal touch to their homes, no matter how temporary or permanent that home.
The Options: The options are essentially limitless when it comes to using vinyl decals as home decor.
Some options include: 1.
Choosing a pre-made design, word set, verse, or phrase.
Often these are mass produced and sold through large companies or corporations.
This is still a way to set your decoration style apart, but you still have potential to walk into another home and see the same vinyl decal on a friend's wall.
2.
Choosing a custom design.
This can be done online or offline, through a large company that offers customization as well as through small family run companies.
3.
Of course, you can even purchase equipment, vinyl, and software to make your own customized designs.
While it might prove a fun hobby, the first two options are probably more viable for those who don't wish to mass produce vinyl decals.
Tips: 1.
Make sure you choose a vinyl decal that is large enough to fill the space you want to decorate.
(Most often, people choose a size too small.
) 2.
Make sure you take measurements when ordering; or if the vinyl product you are ordering provides measurements, consider cutting out some paper that size and hanging it on the wall space you wish to decorate to gain an accurate idea of how much wall space the decoration will fill.
3.
Do not overdo it: avoid putting multiple vinyl products on one wall space.
The eyes need space to focus and space to rest in.
(Professional decorators recommend leaving at least one wall space per room blank so that the eyes have an area to rest.
) Also try to limit the number of fonts used in one vinyl decal set, particularly if you are customizing.
