For the past decade I have been hearing about December 21,2012 and the prophecies associated with that date. What can a tiny speck on this earth such as me to in order to save itself from the catastrophe. Most organisms in order to hide will either go underground or take to the air. Without a lot of help I don't think that I am capable of doing either. I obviously can't fly, and how deep can I dig. The world as wek now it is in for some dramatic, and devastating changes. I am constantly reminded to explore the possibilities, and see what others believe.
The Mayan calendar will end in 2012, and with it will come a new beginning. In the movie 2012, that resulted with a large group of people that had to deal with natural disasters such as volcanic eruptions, typhoons and glaciers. It is very hard to predict what kind of catastrophes the Mayans have foresees since they have been extinct for a longer time than the age of most family trees. I wish my ancestors have spoken to the Mayans and left me with some kind of a note that would be passed on from one generation to the next. If they knew such a disasters was upon us, it would be in their best interest to pass this information along so that their blood line doesn't end abruptly on that date.
I know I would have done it. Unlike the terminator movies this is much easier, as we don't need to figure out a way to go back in past but just pass a small piece of information forward. It is also interesting how a nation could have known so well about the future as we can't even guess tomorrow's lottery numbers. This is with some of the worlds most powerful computers at disposal. We are unable to predict tomorrow's weather patterns, or the effects of global warming due in the next few years. Yet, the Mayans were so evolved that even though they became extinct had clear knowledge of the future.
The scientists at NASA have studied this date for many years, and agree that there might be a solar flare show on the sun which might disrupt our power grids. These people have also been known to fail many times with their predictions and estimates. So far we know that something is definitely bound to happen but it could either be the sun having a hiccup or microwaving our planet. In any case, there isn't much that we can do. The power of the sun is so strong, that worrying about surviving a flood will not do us much good. The fact is that if something major like this does happen there will be no place to hide. Not for the common folk that is. If a special building or rocket is created and able to withstand such an even this will only be kept in the hand of the rich and the powerful. I'd rather use my time on solving things that I do have some control over.
