Gender Selection And Ovulation

Gender selection and ovulation are tied together: if you have a preference as to the gender of your next baby, it's a good idea to start paying attention to your ovulation. Many couples (particularly the woman half of the couple) know to pay attention to their ovulation for conception purposes, but many do not know that ovulation and when you have sex can play a role in determining whether you have a baby boy or a baby girl. Hence ovulation and gender selection, if you have a gender preference, should be understood and learned.

Ovulate: you have to know when you do. Traditional charting tempuratures and viginal discharge are some of the many ways to determine ovulation. There are even ovulation predictor kits on the market that you can use. Once you know when you ovulate, you will be able to determine when to have sex at a time that will enhance your chances of having a boy or a girl. Hence with all due dilligence, understanding how ovulation works will go a long way to get the baby gender of your dreams.

Conception of the X and Y Bearing Sperms

Only one sperm is going to successfully fertilize your egg out of all the sperms vying for that opportunity. Because the Y bearing sperm is the faster swimmer, they can actually reach the egg more quickly. The men contribute the X for female and Y for male and the women comtribute the XX chromosome: hence it's up to the men to determine the gender of the baby. Understanding how the sperm works will help you figure out the best time to do the deed in order to make a boy or a girl.

If you want to have a boy then have sex no earlier than 12 hours before ovulation so that the faster Y bearing sperm gets to the egg first. Since the X chromosomes are more hardy and live longer, if you have sex too early, the Y bearing "boy" chromosome will not be there to fertilize the egg.

It is suggested that if you want a girl that you have sex a few days before ovulation so that the X bearing "girl" chromosome will out life the more fragile Y sperm so that the X will end up fertilizing the egg. To have a girl, you actually want the slower moving x-chromosome sperms to fertilize the egg.

So, the key here is to get your prefered Y or X chromosome through particular positions. Since if you want to have a boy, you want the weaker but faster Y bearing sperm to fertilize the egg, you will want to use a more penetrating position such as "doggy-style." If you want to have a baby girl then a simple "missionary" position is the recommended course of action as it is a more shallower position. It's all dependant on ovulation and the speed at which you want the sperm to reach the egg and indeed which sperm to reach the egg first.

So, it is important that the woman start tracking her ovulation. This process may take a few months, so the earlier you get started on it the better. Whatever the outcome, I am sure it will be a joy, but then at the same time, why not put all the odds in your favor to get the gender of your dreams. We would all agree that it will be worth it right, especially because with gender selection and ovulation it is absolutely safe.
