How to Paint in High Humidity
- 1). Close all windows to prevent more humidity from making its way into the room. Plug in the dehumidifier in the room you plan to paint, and leave it on for at least two hours to remove as much of the room's moisture as possible.
- 2). Cover the floor with the canvas drop cloth to protect it from accidental paint spills.
- 3). Wipe down the walls with a damp, lint-free cloth to remove surface dust. Allow the walls to dry for at least two hours.
- 4). Cover the trim on your walls with painting tape to prevent paint from bleeding onto it.
- 5). Mix the paint in the paint can with a wooden stir stick, and pour a third of the paint into the pan. Saturate the paint roller in the paint, and paint in an upward motion against the wall to create a "W" shape with the paint.
- 6). Paint in a horizontal motion to smooth out the initial application, and use a small paint brush to paint around windows, doors and baseboards.
- 7). Leave the dehumidifier on while the paint is drying. The room should be completely dry within two to three hours. Apply a second coat of paint if needed.
