Setting up a blog is a great way to create exposure around your online business.
And blogs are also a great way to get quick natural traffic that you can profit from.
Take a look at every major online business, from the small to the large.
They all have blogs, even the big boss Google has a blog.
Here is a quick guide to setting up a blog.
(Assuming you have your own domain and hosting account) 1.
Use the ever popular WordPress blog system to create your blog.
Its simple, in your hosting control panel go to the "fantastico" smiley face button and select WordPress and simply install it.
2.
WordPress has an admin panel that is very user friendly and you should be able to select themes (from a huge variety), change layout, rename categories, etc with ease.
Spend some time customising your blog here, you can also add custom widgets to include further functionality.
3.
Now you have your blog set up its time to start posting.
I would advise you to post at lease once or twice a week to start off with.
Nothing too large.
Between 300-1000 words will do.
Write about anything that your visitors will gain value from.
So if you have a blog on green tea, you could do a post entitled '25 reasons to drink green tea'.
And educate them on the benefits of drinking it.
Make sure you ping your blog every time you add new content at one of the many pinging sites (this let's the Internet know you have just added content to your blog).
4.
Finally its the money, and if you want to generate income from your blog you can't overlook this step.
In the admin panel of your WordPress blog there are options to add custom HTML code to designated places on your blog (say the right hand side).
Here you can place AdSense ads, affiliate banners or other forms of advertising that makes you money.
Google respects WordPress blogs as they have a history of being used to deliver quality content to searchers across the world.
For this reason, you should have no problem getting indexed on Google.
This is the basics of creating a blog and there is much more that can be done to maximise the potential of your blog and increase traffic.
