- 1). Select "Control Panel" from the Start menu.

- 4). Go to the Modems tab and click on "Properties."

Go to the Modem tab, and under "Maximum Port Speed," select the highest modem setting available from the drop-down menu list of available transfer speeds. Then click "OK."
