Most households in this country (over 80% in fact) are equipped with air cooling systems, which unquestionably make life good. After all, air conditioners do a fabulous job cooling and filtering the air while also removing the excess humidity.

In spite of all of the benefits of having an air conditioner, buying one can be a bit overwhelming. Selecting the proper combination of equipment can clearly be tough since you have to think about things like initial cost, energy efficiency rating and other things prior to purchasing one. Capacity of the unit is an essential factor to consider because you must get equipment that is not too small or big for the household or office to be cooled. A good contractor can easily make the load calculations required.

One more factor to consider before buying an air conditioner is the SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) rating. These ratings will allow you to learn the efficiency of the air conditioning unit. It is the law for the newest models to have at least 13 SEER rating.

There are plenty of brands of AC units on hand in the US and many are known for their great quality. Five of the most effective brands out there are Amana, Carrier, Trane, Lennox, and Bryant. Every one of these manufacturers supply fantastic cooling equipment with various options that will fit each budget. You can locate these top of the line air conditioners at home improvement stores, specialty HVAC stores, or even through merchants on the internet.

When selecting a brand, a significant constraint is the price. However, selecting an A/C system based on just price may cost you a lot more over the following decade of owning it. Each of these brands is distinguished quality and very reliable. The well-known brands will certainly be more expensive, but they will always be around when you require service. The models that have high efficiency ratings will also add to the price of the front end, but they will save you money in the long run.

It is certainly safe to say that an old A/C unit has to be upgraded to a much more efficient one, especially if it is more than 12 or 15 years old. In some cases, you can even get federal or state tax credits for replacing your system. It is also a good idea to think about a regular maintenance system for your A/C equipment to keep it operating correctly.
