  Alexander is a suburb of Attica, located in upstate New York. The town is actually a village and is one of only 12 remaining villages throughout New York State that operate via a village charter. The village was founded in 1802 and as of 2000, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, had a population of only 481. Due to Alexander being so small, visitors to the area tend to stay in Attica and surrounding towns.

• The Attican Motel is a small lodging option in Attica, less than three miles from the center of Alexander and under a 10-minute drive. The motel has a total of 28 rooms available. Room choices include one queen-size bed or two double beds. • The Hampton Inn--located in Batavia, New York--is eight miles from Alexander, or about a 10-minute drive. As of August 2010, room rates start at around $80 per night, with discounts available for members of AAA, AARP and the government--including military members. The Hampton Inn has 59 rooms, with options ranging from one king to two queen-size beds. There are rooms available with whirlpool bathtubs and guests can choose from smoking and non-smoking. All rooms come with Internet access, television, sitting area, coffee maker and private bathroom. • The Holiday Inn Batavia, located in the Darien Lake area, is less than 10 minutes away via car and lies eight miles from Alexander. There are 195 rooms available at the hotel, with choices ranging from standard to suites. All rooms contain refrigerators and microwaves. The suites also include separate sitting areas for guests. There's a restaurant located inside the hotel that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and room service is available between the hours of 6:30 am and 9 pm.
