What Is Image Mapping?
First off, let me explain what an image mapper is. Say you take an photo, or any kind of graphic or clip art, and you want to make different parts of the photo link to different Web pages. That would be an image map.
For instance, you have a photo of your family. Each person in your family has their own website. You want to make it possible for your website's visitors to go to your family's websites by just clicking on that family member in the photo.
This is what I'm going to show you how to do.

Choose The Photo, Graphic or Clip Art To Use
Using Image.Maps.com you can do this in a matter of minutes. First you'll need a photo or a graphic of some sort. If your photo is online you can add the URL of the photo into the URL bar. If your photo is on your computer you can use the upload tool to upload your photo to Image.Maps.com.

Choose the shape of the item you want to link to. In my case I chose rectangle, but you can choose custom shape and make your own shape. Then add the link of the page that you want that area to link to. Create a title for that area of your image. Click "Save".
Do this same thing for every part of the photo you want to link to.

Click on the "Get Your Code" button. You'll be brought to a page where you can copy your image map's code. The code will be down below so scroll down and copy your code.
Now go to the HTML code section of your website editor and paste your new image map onto your Web page right where you want it to be. Now you have an image map to impress your friends with.
